A house is not a home
hosted by Massimo De Carlo
An exhibition by Le Dictateur during Milan Design Week 2024 that reimagines the concept of home, transforming the space into a dynamic platform where identity, belonging, and self-expression take center stage. “A House is Not a Home” transcends the traditional notion of a home as merely a physical dwelling"
exploring it instead as a deeply personal and fluid space where boundaries dissolve, and individuality
thrives. At the intersection of art, design, and craftsmanship, the exhibition challenges the limits of reproducibility and opposes the uniformity of mass production. Each piece tells a story, standing as a unique reflection of personal experience and creative freedom. This radical approach elevates the home from a functional space to a canvas for personal expression, where every object, material, and texture becomes a testament to the essence of those who inhabit it. Our shared obsession with the home evolves into a profound meditation on its role as a radical expression of personal identity. By resisting standardization and embracing the imperfections of craftsmanship, “A House is Not a Home” invites visitors to rethink the spaces they live in, not just as places to reside, but as expressions of who they are.
